The government is taking all the necessary steps to promote and encourage digital payment systems. Hence, Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana is a lucky draw scheme for merchants, where they would be rewarded to accept payments digitally.
There are two types of rewards for the merchants, i.e., a weekly lucky draw and a mega draw. Weekly lucky draw as the name suggests, is a weekly prize where 7,000 merchants are rewarded with INR 2,500, INR 5,000, and INR 50,000. The Mega draw, in turn, will take place on April 14th, 2017 and the lucky winners would get Rs. 12 lakh, Rs. 25 lakh, and Rs. 50 lakh.
What you need to know about Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana
The government is making every possible effort to bring digital payment systems in practice. And what better approach can there be, than starting from the merchants. Here are some of the reasons why DigiDhan Vyapar Yojana is beneficial:
- The scheme helps promote digital payments through merchants
- To be eligible for the reward the merchant should accept a minimum of INR 50 as payment
- Merchants should accept payments digitally between the period of November 9, 2016 and March 13, 2017
- Digital payments which exceed INR 3000 are not eligible for the scheme
- The digital transactions should be between a merchant and a consumer
The type of digital payments eligible for the scheme
Though Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana focuses only on the digital payments, not every digital payment is accepted. There are only 4 types of digital payments which are acceptable by the government for the scheme. The digital payments which are accepted in the scheme are:
1. By Rupay Card
Rupay card is a type of debit card initiated by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The transactions done through this card are eligible for the scheme.
2. Unified Payment Interface (UPI)
UPI is a mobile based payment system and the platform for apps like BHIM, PNB UPI, and SBI Pay. All payments made using any UPI based app are also acceptable in the scheme.
3. USSD *99# Banking
Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is for those who wish to make digital payments but do not have a smartphone or the internet. You only need to dial *99# to get the services available on smartphones with the internet, including making payments, which, in turn, are eligible for the scheme.
4. AEPS
Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) uses the Aadhaar card to make and receive payments. The user does not need his credit/debit card, the internet, and even smartphone to make payments. The merchant, however, should have Aadhaar Payment App to accept payments.
Payments done through any other mobile based payment app are not eligible for Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana, unless the customer pays through UPI. For instance, if the customer pays through PhonePe, but uses UPI for paying, the payment is acceptable for the scheme.
